Description
Havana has always been an attractive city. It’s
the main political and cultural center of the island.
The University is located in the Vedado district, one
of the main areas of the city, five blocks away of the
famous Malecón. Vedado is 35 minutes away on foot
and 10 minutes on taxi of the Old Havana, which is an
urban center of 4 square km constructed between the 16th
and 19th centuries, declared as Patrimony of the Humanity
by the UNESCO in 1981, considering its architectonic,
historical and cultural values, unique in Latin America.
The visitor of Old Havana will soon notice that the restoration
works are making return the former splendor of the colonial
area and its monuments: the Royal Force Castle -the Oldest
fortress of America-, the Havana Cathedral, the most remarkable
example of the baroque architecture, etc.
